Yesterday's break from work...

So I was sitting in the lunchroom yesterday taking a break to eat a snack, hanging with a couple of the younger students chatting about their school experience thus far.

It's their first term and they expressed confidence in what they're doing in classes right now, enjoying the creative workflow involved. I listened to what they had to say about it all, their views on the process, what they aspired to be and how they were gonna get there. They said how they like to work together to help in areas where they would have troubles in, how that really pushed them forward In their work. I added that it was a good mindset to have, to be able to work as team that as one improve the other would too in the process cause they worked in synchronicity. I gave them insight into workflow, how developing it will build a good work ethic to meet deadlines. I shared with them mine and how it became what it is at the moment. Being able to stay inspired to do your best work is vital in producing efficiently and having fun.

I got up to say that it was time for me to get back to work, and had asked what they were gonna do for the rest of the evening...They too got up quickly and simply stated that they were gonna get to working/finishing up their assignments cause they felt inspired to do so after our chat. You know at that moment I felt really happy, not so much that I did a good deed but that my words were appreciated for what it was...Empowerment to be creative. That was a pretty awesome moment...Just saying.

SUNday rise...

Woke up early to continue work on Minotaur sculpt, just exported an image outta ZBrush and brought it into Photoshop to adjust brightness/contrast to bring out the silhouette. I'm happy with this new version, I'm sure I've captured the power and menacing feel I was trying to emulate from concept.

I did spend a week n a half posing and getting feedback from peers and instructors at school, ending up realizing the pose was wrong for accurate stance so I tried bringing it into Maya and cutting the mesh in half to reverse the legs so I wouldn't have to do it all over again. Everything was fine brought it into ZBrush again and blended the parts together, dynamesh to fill holes. Cleaned up the pose and reverted back to t-pose for it to not recognize the mesh. Damn it...Keeping my cool I stepped away and told myself to sleep on it.

Next day I came into school with a definite plan to how to get the character posed and ready, starting from the original stance I was able to get everything laid out with a strong silhouette in 2 hrs. Through the process I've encountered all the problems I should have to understand the workflow in posing, right topology, and transferring in between Maya and ZBrush. Now I can do things in half the time with my Monkeyking sculpt.

5th Edition of The Creators Corner yesterday at VCAD...

Had some 3D printed/Hand painted keychains, custom tees, and art prints along with custom jewelry, scarves and pouches from other vendors at the event...Good turnout from the new students, giving them a chance to network and connect with like minded creative heads. Had fun with it.

Minotaur ZBrush sculpt pose pushed further...

Adding cloud particles to my Monkeyking ZBrush sculpt...

Playing around with cloud particles and lighting effects in Maya for this one, I'm pretty excited to see what develops with the end production for my demo reel...Here's a rendered shot of the model with 2 point lighting. Sculpt done in ZBrush with everything else for effects in Maya.
